RAISING A SAFEGUARDING CONCERN
The safety and wellbeing of every young person is our first priority. Marika Newman is POP Collective’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. Lisa Yearn, Operations and Safeguarding Director, provides Board-level safeguarding oversight.
How to tell us about a concern
If you are a child or young person, parent or carer, volunteer, member of staff or professional and you are worried about someone’s safety or wellbeing, please tell us as soon as possible.
You can speak to Marika or another trusted member of the POP Collective team in person. You can also email safeguarding@pop-collective.co.uk or call 07446 946666.
Please tell us if your message is a safeguarding concern so that it can be treated as a priority. You do not need to be certain that something is wrong or have proof before speaking to us. We would always prefer you to share a concern rather than manage it alone.
If your concern relates to Marika Newman, please state that the message is private and confidential and for the attention of Lisa Yearn, Operations and Safeguarding Director.
What happens when a concern is raised
We will listen carefully, take the concern seriously and make a secure written record of the information shared with us. The Designated Safeguarding Lead will consider what action is needed to protect the child or young person and may seek advice from, or make a referral to, the appropriate safeguarding services.
Where possible, we will explain what will happen next. However, we may not be able to provide detailed updates about another person because safeguarding information must be handled confidentially.
Sharing information
We will respect privacy, but we cannot promise to keep safeguarding information secret. If we believe that a child or young person may be at risk of harm, we may need to share relevant information with Children’s Social Care, the police, the Local Authority Designated Officer or another appropriate safeguarding professional.
Information will only be shared with people who need it in order to protect a child or young person, and it will be handled in accordance with our Safeguarding Policy and data protection responsibilities.
Our Safeguarding Policy
Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy explains how POP Collective prevents and responds to safeguarding concerns. A copy can be requested by emailing hello@pop-collective.co.uk.
Immediate danger or urgent concerns
If a child or young person is in immediate danger, call the police on 999. Do not wait for a response from POP Collective.
For safeguarding concerns that are not an immediate emergency, members of the public can contact Cambridgeshire Children’s Social Care on 0345 045 5203, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. Outside these hours, contact the Emergency Duty Team on 01733 234 724.
